TU Colourguard

The Thammasat University Colorguard (TU Colorguard) is a group that practices and performs colorguard shows using various equipment, such as flags, rifles, air blades, and double flags. They perform at many events, such as the Chula-Thammasat Traditional Football Match, Freshy Games, events within Thammasat University, and events organized by external organizations.

Once selected to join the Thammasat University Colorguard, members must train under the guidance of senior members of the group. They will learn basic flag techniques and practice for Thammasat University songs, such as the royal composition "Yung Thong" and Thammasat cheer medleys. In addition to university songs, they also create performances for other pieces, including international songs, to suit different events.

I had the opportunity to play colorguard in high school as a small school activity, which I really enjoyed. After it ended, I hoped to play again someday. When I entered Thammasat University, I saw the TU Colorguard perform at the orientation day, and my desire to play colorguard returned. At first, I was hesitant about joining because I knew it required intense practice and my dental program was quite demanding. I had to weigh my options, but eventually, I decided to apply and was selected to join the Thammasat University Colorguard.

Colorguard is a group performance that requires unity among all members. We spent all our time after classes together practicing, which made us very close. Besides performing, there are other responsibilities, such as managing the group. I was trusted by my peers to be both the club president and the head of the performance section. Balancing my studies and club duties was challenging, but it was incredibly rewarding and helped me manage my time better.

Being part of the Thammasat University Colorguard has shaped me into a better person. Initially, I was just a kid who loved colorguard, but I grew to be more mature, learned to work with others, socialize, handle unexpected problems, and much more. Its the best experience, and I dont know where else I could have gained it.

My Journey with TU Colorguard

I once had the opportunity to perform colorguard back in high school. It was just a small school activity, but I loved it deeply. After it ended, I always hoped that one day Id get the chance to perform again. When I entered Thammasat University and saw the TU Colorguard perform at the freshman orientation, that desire was reignited.

At first, I was hesitant to apply because I knew being in a colorguard team required intense practice. On top of that, my faculty has a demanding academic workload, so I had to seriously weigh my options. But in the end, I decided to go for itand I was selected to become a member of the TU Colorguard.

Colorguard is a group performance, so unity and teamwork are absolutely essential. We spent all our time after classes training together, and that brought us incredibly close. We became more than just teammateswe became family.

Beyond performing, theres also the administrative side of the club. I was honored that my fellow members trusted me enough to appoint me as both the president of the club and the head of performances. Balancing both academic life and club responsibilities was exhausting, but it was also incredibly rewarding. It challenged me, pushed me to manage my time better, and helped me grow tremendously.

Being part of the TU Colorguard has shaped me into a better version of myself. What started as a simple passion became a journey of growth. I learned how to work as a team, how to adapt to social settings, and how to handle problems on the spot. It has been one of the most valuable experiences of my lifesomething truly irreplaceable.
